What leaders ask us about DG-OS™.
What is a data governance operating model? +
An operating model defines who owns data decisions and how they get
made, then turns that into a working rhythm of councils, stewards,
and certifications. DG-OS™ is our productized version: a 4-tier
council structure, prescribed steward criteria that are both
business-driven and technical, and 5-step data product
certification, proven at $150M, $1.2B, and $40B scale.
What are governance councils and who sits on them? +
Councils are the standing bodies that make and enforce data
decisions. In DG-OS™ there are four tiers: the Global Governance
Council, where executives handle escalations and strategic
oversight; the Local Governance Council, which runs operational
reviews of DQE™ results, certifications, and maturity; the
Cross-Domain Council, where data owners align shared definitions,
reusable products, and consistent standards; and the Intra-Domain
Council, which handles deep domain-specific governance and
stewardship.
How fast can DG-OS™ be stood up? +
We stood up a full 4-tier council structure with certified data
products in 3 months at a $40B supplier. Because DG-OS™ is
productized rather than designed from scratch, the councils, steward
criteria, and certification steps are prescribed from day one.
Does DG-OS™ work with Purview, Snowflake, and Databricks? +
Yes. DG-OS™ integrates the business glossary and catalog with
Microsoft Purview, with 250+ terms governed in Purview at one
client, and council agendas are driven by platform data. It pairs
with DQE™, our Data Quality Engine, which is built on Databricks and
Snowflake and deployable to any environment.
